The only local shop in Botnhamn is Meyer & Co. The shopkeeper Ole Meyer came to Botnhamn in 1905 and started the first local country store in the village. His sons later took over the store and built a new and modern shop not far from the first site. Through the years there have been three shops in Botnhamn, but Meyer&Co is the only one left today. Tommy Meyer, Ole Meyer's grandchild, runs the shop today in a nice and orderly manner. Meyer&Co has actually become a grocery shop where you can find everything you might need.

Meyer celebrated 100 years in Botnhamn in 2005. In 2005 it was one hundred years since Mr. Ole Meyer and his firm Meyer & Co established itself in Botnhamn. Few businesses in Northern Norway have a history like Meyer & Co in Botnhamn. The whole Meyer family, counting more than 450 today, celebrated the jubilee with a big party in Botnhamn on 2 July 2005! Read the whole story and see the pictures here!
